The most attractive oil region in the US and perhaps the world has added more than 100 active rigs since last spring.

The overall US drilling rig count increased by 5 to 593 during a week ended Nov. 23 that was shortened by the Thanksgiving Day holiday, according to Baker Hughes Inc. data.

American Midstream Partners LP has agreed to acquire 100% of JP Energy Partners LP in a unit-for-unit merger, creating a $2-billion midstream master limited partnership (MLP) with primary operations in the Permian, Eagle Ford, Bakken, and Gulf of Mexico.

Oasis Petroleum Inc., Houston, has agreed to acquire 55,000 net acres and 226 gross operated drilling locations in Divide County, ND, part of the Williston basin, from Denver-based SM Energy Co. for $785 million.
