Crude oil and natural gas production outages persist in the US Gulf
of Mexico as well as onshore Texas as Tropical Storm Harvey moves over
East Texas and southwestern Louisiana, another major US downstream
region.
BHP Billiton Ltd. said it’s “actively pursuing options” to sell its US onshore oil and gas assets, which it has classified as noncore amid pressure from shareholders to divest.

The overall US rig count has declined for the third straight week and fifth time in 8 weeks, advancing what could be a partial reversal of a drilling rebound that lasted more than a year.
EIA: Major US onshore regions’ oil output to rise 117,000 b/d in September

Crude oil production from the seven major US onshore producing regions is forecast to increase 117,000 b/d month-over-month in September to 6.149 million b/d, according to the US Energy Information Administration’s latest Drilling Productivity Report.
Major US operators entered 2017 with increased capital budgets and plans to ramp up drilling in the Lower 48’s most promising regions, namely the Permian basin and Sooner Trend Anadarko basin Canadian and Kingfisher counties (STACK) play.
The overall US drilling rig count declined during the week ended Aug. 11 for the fourth time in the past 7 weeks, and gas-directed rigs led the losses for a second straight week.
The overall US rig count has recorded its largest decline since
before the drilling rebound commenced in late May-early June of 2016.
Penn Virginia to buy Eagle Ford assets from Devon

Penn Virginia Corp., Houston, is to acquire Eagle Ford assets primarily in Lavaca County, Tex., for $205 million cash from Devon Energy Corp., Oklahoma City.
