The worldwide average of active rigs in November increased by 58 to 1,678 units, reflecting an ongoing drilling rebound in the US and Canada, according to data from Baker Hughes Inc. The latest tally is down 369 year-over-year.

The most attractive oil region in the US and perhaps the world has added more than 100 active rigs since last spring.

BP PLC and GE have announced the startup of Plant Operations Advisor (POA), a big-data digital system designed to improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety of BP’s oil and gas production operations offshore. The pilot started with Atlantis oil and natural gas field in the Gulf of Mexico.
